A Letchworth-based construction company has been named the UK’s best place to work at the Best Companies Awards.
Willmott Dixon, which has its headquarters in Letchworth, took home the prize in the Best Big Company category.
They were awarded the gong based on responses to a survey of employees carried out by Best Companies, and information supplied by the company about how they treat their employees.
Among the contributing factors were Willmott Dixon’s commitment to reaching net zero for carbon emissions by 2030, its attempts to increase gender diversity in construction, and its women’s leadership programme.
Chris Tredget, managing director for Willmott Dixon’s London and East business, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with this award. Knowing it comes as a result of all the positive things our teams have said about working for our company makes it incredibly special.
“Our people feel they have a fantastic workplace environment where they are happy, feel supported and have the opportunity to grow their careers.”
Willmott Dixon was also awarded 3-star Best Companies accreditation, which is granted to employers with ‘world class’ levels of workplace engagement.
There was also a prize for group chief executive Rick Willmott, who was named ‘best leader’ in the special awards category, recognising his influence in Willmott Dixon’s success. Rick is a direct descendant of John Willmott who founded the company in 1852.
