An arrest has been made after a teenage girl was left with serious injuries following a collision in Hitchin yesterday. 

Police were called just after 5pm on Thursday, December 6, to reports of a crash in Nightingale Road in Hitchin.

An ambulance, a senior paramedic, and a BASICS car were sent to the scene following a call just before 5.30pm, and an air ambulance also attended.

A pedestrian and a black Vauxhall were involved. The pedestrian, a teenage girl, was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital to be assessed.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson described her injuries as "serious", but according to Herts police they are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene.
