Hertfordshire residents were treated to scenic white landscapes this morning as a small amount of snow settled overnight.

Those in Hatfield and St Albans were treated to white fields and snow-tipped trees.

Stevenage residents witnessed snow-covered rooftops and cars, however, the snow has not yet settled too much on the ground in the town.

According to the Met Office, that could be about to change as more snow showers are predicted.

A yellow snow and ice warning has also been issued.

A spokesperson for the Met Office predicted the following for the East of England: "A cold and frosty start, with snow possible in the south early.

"Cloud thickening up through the morning but staying mostly dry, before a band of snow, sleet and then rain moves in from the west during the evening.

"Maximum temperature 5 °C."

As the day progresses, the prediction changes to: "Band of snow, sleet and rain erratically clears eastwards overnight, leaving the odd snow shower and a risk of frost and ice.

"Light winds, with showers easing off by morning. Minimum temperature 0 °C."

The Met Office's forecast for today now shows at least "light snow" for the rest of today in St Albans, Stevenage, Hatfield and Hitchin among others.
