The Jack Mudd Academy at Knebworth Golf Club set up in memory of a young golfer to help other children get into the sport has chalked up another success - unveiled with the help of Stevenage footballer Luke Norris.

The academy was set up at by Dave and Anne Mudd after the tragic death of the son Jack, who was a very talented golfer.

The academy as well as the club, now put a lot of effort into helping other youngsters in Hertfordshire experience the game with such improvements as a short-game practice facility.

The latest aid is a swing studio, which was officially opened by Jack's parents, Anne and Dave, as well as the Stevenage striker, Knebworth captain Andy Burgess and chairman Andy Stevens.

Dave Mudd said: "Myself and Anne are thrilled to have this amazing facility associated to Jack's academy.

"Over the past few years, it has supported lots of youngsters in the community and when you come to Knebworth, it is always a pleasure to see the children with smiles on their faces and enjoying every aspect that golf brings."

Head professional Ian Parker added: "The academy coaches the children so much more than a golf swing.

"It has been a pleasure to have both Ashley [Young] and Luke in the studio already and they are both very impressed with the new facility."

A new beginner's course will start at the club on Saturday, April 15, at 9am.

It is aimed at 6 to 16-year-olds and will cover technique, trick shots, safety, warm-up and etiquette.
