The programmes will run each day of the school holidays (except Bank Holidays) from 10am to 3pm and are free of charge for children aged eight to 11 who receive free school meals.

The camps feature a mixture of arts and crafts, sport, games, and other enrichment activities with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment, as well as providing a hot meal for all participants.

The sessions are run by qualified play-leaders and coaches and the programme also includes visits by external agencies to support the emotional and physical wellbeing of participants.

Herts Sports Partnership director, John O’Callaghan said: “We are extremely proud of our Fit, Fed and Read holiday camps which always prove very popular with local schoolchildren.

"We know that these are very hard times for some families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and having to make decisions on whether they heat their homes or feed their children."
