Hitchin Boys' School said goodbye to inspirational PE teacher Chris Bajak on Friday, March 31, after more than 20 years of service.
In addition to helping every pupil's sporting progress and personal development, Chris was behind some significant sporting achievements at the school.
He twice coached the senior athletics team to the finals of the World Schools' Athletics Championships, and last year took the U15 rugby team to victory in the final of the National Vase competition at Twickenham.
After school on Thursday, March 30, around 200 parents, students, former students and staff came together for a surprise presentation to Chris.
During the presentation, Pete Cornell, current head of PE, presented Chris with a silver salver engraved with a list of some of the sporting successes that were achieved during his tenure.

Chris will now become the rugby performance director and Saracens partnership coordinator at Mill Hill School.
Andy McPherson, assistant head and former head of PE at the school, said: "It is no surprise to anyone that the national sporting success the school has achieved over the last few years has been directly down to Chris.
"He is not only the heartbeat of the PE department, he is also an inspiration to us all and the epitome of what a modern-day PE teacher should be.
"We wish him the very best success at Mill Hill in what is his dream role."
