Last weekend was filled with sunshine and fundraising at the annual Kimpton May Festival, where more than £12,000 is predicted to have been raised.

Kimpton played host to the largest May Festival in Hertfordshire, which saw a host of many events to give something to everyone as all ages enjoyed the ‘Rock, Pop and Superstars’ themed weekend.

Starting with the art show in the church and a sell-out wine tasting on the Friday (April 28), villagers and visitors alike helped to make sure all the events were a major hit.

Chairman of the festival Barbara Kazwini said: "This May Festival has been one of the best yet, we have been very fortunate with the weather and the fact that all of our ticketed events sold well has gone to make it a great year in terms of fundraising.

"I’m delighted that we are able to provide such an entertaining weekend for all those who come, but there is also a serious side to the event and the money raised will go to a host of good causes both in the village and further afield."

But while the dust settles on another year, the team is ready to make sure 2024 is even better with work has already started on a number of events while an appeal has been made for more volunteers to join the amazing ‘Purple Army’ committee which ensures the smooth running of the weekend.
