Times are hard at the moment, but that doesn't mean you can still go out for a nice meal that won't break the bank.

Here's five of the best affordable restaurants in Hertfordshire.

1. El bar de tapas – Stevenage

Who doesn't love tapas, right? The only problem is, affordable tapas can be hard to find, but we think we've done just that.

El bar de tapas in Stevenage Old Town is a popular and much-loved restaurant, and with most dishes ranging from £4 to £7, you can certainly enjoy some great Spanish food without breaking the bank.

This really is one of the best places to eat in Hertfordshire, and you should really go and check it out.

With plenty to choose from, including soups for less than £6, stir fry and fragrant curries from £7.95 and a host of chef specials, this really is a great spot for a decently priced meal.

Everyone loves pizza, but they seem to be getting more and more expensive these days.

Not at The Yard though, with Harpenden's original wood fired pizzeria offering some tasty Italian goodness at very fair prices.
