A tea room in Hitchin is closing its doors for the final time today (Monday, June 26).

In a post on Facebook, it was announced "with a heavy heart" that Molly's Tea Room on Bancroft will be shutting.

The team at the tea room, which was opened by Carolyn Palmer eight-and-a-half years ago, said that the decision had "not been an easy one" and expressed their "deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support throughout the years".

They said that "the financial climate has made it non-viable", but thanked customers for their "support, friendliness, and belief" in the café.

However, fans of the tea room will be able to take a piece of Molly's home with them - tableware, plush bears and other items will be available for purchase from 5.30pm today.

All their remaining cakes will also be available to purchase - so don't miss out on your chance to savour your favourite one more time.

Customers paid tribute to the café on Facebook, saying that they were "gutted" and "heartbroken" to hear that it was closing, and describing it as a "lovely little oasis of tasty cakes, tea and great staff".
