A collision between a car and a cyclist in Baldock has left a 76-year-old man with injuries that are described as "life threatening" by police.

At around 3pm on Tuesday, September 26, police were called to reports that a red Audi A4 and an electric bicycle had collided on Clothall Road (the A507) in Baldock.

Herts police officers attended the scene, along with paramedics from the ambulance and air ambulance services.

The 76-year-old man, from Enfield, was airlifted to hospital, while a 32-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury without due care.

Road closures were put in place on the A507 while emergency services attended the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Police Sergeant Mark Casey, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who has witnessed this collision to come forward with information.

“Additionally, if you were driving in the area at the time and have dashcam footage that may support our investigation please contact me.”
