Remembrance parades and services will be taking place across our area on Sunday, November 12, as the nation honours those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Stevenage
On Armistice Day - Saturday, November 11, the Royal British Legion and members of the public are set to gather at 10.30am in front of the clock tower, ready for the 11am two-minute silence, after prayers by the Reverend Karen Mitchell and a reading by MP Stephen McPartland.
The Remembrance parade and service will take place on Sunday, November 12.
The parade will form in in Primett Road starting at 9am for the cadets, ready for their inspection by the Mayor and the Youth Mayor.
The best turned out unit will be awarded the Stan Stokes/ John Jeffery memorial trophy.
The rest of the parade will form up ready to march off at 10.20am to the service at the Bowling Green.
Hitchin
Hitchin town Remembrance parade will commence at 9am from Hitchin Army Reserve Centre, through to St Mary’s Church via Grammar School Walk.
A civic service will take place from 10am at St Mary's Church for Remembrance Sunday, followed by a gathering at the town's War Memorial just before 11am for the Act of Remembrance.
Letchworth
Letchworth's Royal British Legion branch will attend the town's war memorial in Station Place from 10.30am ready for a two-minute silence at 11am, before the laying of wreaths.
This will be followed by a church service at 11.30am at the Free Church in Leys Avenue.
Baldock
A short Remembrance service will take place at the town's war memorial in High Street, hosted by Baldock Branch Royal British Legion.
The order of service includes the reading of psalms, the Act of Remembrance and the laying of the wreaths.
Branch members have asked anyone who would like to attend to be in place by 10.45am.
Royston
The main commemorations will be the Remembrance Sunday Parade on Sunday, November 12.
Those taking part in the parade will gather at 10am in Queens Road and begin the procession at 10.25am. Arriving at the War Memorial on Melbourn Street by 10:35am, the service of remembrance starts at 10.40am.
There will also be a smaller service on Armistice Day itself, Saturday, November 11, beginning at 10.50am at the War Memorial and then moving to the 91st Bomb Group Memorial in Priory Memorial Gardens.
