A new special school for teenagers with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs is opening near Hitchin this month.
East Hall School, a specialist SEMH school for 16 students aged 14 to 16, will be opening on the rural St Paul's Walden Bury estate.
The school will be offering their students GCSE and vocational qualifications in subjects such as English, maths, science, global perspectives, ICT, art and horticulture.
It will also tap into the therapeutic benefits of their herd of eight horses, flock of hens, six guinea pigs and seven dogs.
Headteacher Laura Perry said: "East Hall School is education with a difference. Our team of teachers understand the power of connection and are excited to use our unique setting to enable our students, who will have often experienced significant trauma early on in their lives, to succeed and rekindle their love of learning."
