The nursery at Fairlands Primary School in Stevenage is closed today (Thursday, November 23) due to staff sickness.

A statement on the school's website explained that they are unable to provide enough staff to open the nursery.

It added that "there has been a high number of children showing symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea in the setting over the last 48 hours", and that school staff "will thoroughly investigate this and seek further advice today".

Parents with children at the school have been advised to check their email inboxes today for further information.

The school has apologised to parents "for the inconvenience and the short notice".

Only the nursery is affected by the closure, with the school otherwise operating as normal.

A decision has not yet been made on whether the nursery will reopen on Friday, November 24.
