Stevenage landmarks have been given a shout-out in a new hip-hop track titled Stevo Town.

Rapper Big Gub released the song on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple music, as well as sharing a video filmed in the town on YouTube, on November 22.

The artist told The Comet: “I was born and raised in Stevenage, I’ve lived there my whole life.

"When I was younger, we didn’t have a lot, but I had a dream. Now, seeing the progress and doing events like the Christmas lights switch-on, it has been amazing.

“I wanted to pay homage to my hometown and put it on the map. I believe our town has a lot of talent but I think its just not been shown yet.”

Stevo Town also features fellow local rapper Vincent Bramble, aka Vincenzo, who has previously written his own music referencing Stevenage, including the track Shephall Boy.

Lyrics with references locals might recognise include:

“The crowd went crazy, jumped on stage at Old Town Live .

“Then I linked my G's at Mulberry Tree for a couple of pints.

“Steer this whip like Hamilton down Edmonds Drive.”

---

“Out 'till late at Peartree Park I miss those days.

“Now I've gotta make this bread so I can put food on my plate.”

---

“Them man are actors.

“They should be in the Gordon Craig.”
