Charges for parking at multiple car parks in Stevenage are set to change later this month.

We've got details of those changes and information on several other public notices that may affect you in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire.

1. Changes to Stevenage railway station parking costs

From 29 January, the cost of parking in the multistorey car park at Stevenage railway station will change.

From Monday to Saturday between 4am on one day and 4am on the next day, it will cost £7 to park for up to six hours, and £11 to park for longer than six hours.

From 4am on Sunday to 4am on Monday, it will cost £4 to park for any duration.

The changes mean that some people will pay more, while others will pay less than they currently do.

Until now, it has cost a flat-rate of £10 to park in the car park from 4am on Monday to 4am on Saturday, £8 from 4am Saturday until 4am Sunday, and £7.50 from 4am Sunday until 4am Monday.

2. Changes to Marshgate parking costs in Stevenage

The cost of parking in Marshgate will also change.

From 29 January, it will cost £2.50 for a stay of any duration on Sundays, and £2.50 for a stay of any duration between 7pm and 7am from Monday to Saturday.

Between 7am and 7pm from Monday to Saturday, the cost will vary depending on how long you stay. It will cost £2.10 for up to one hour, £3.20 for up to two hours, £4.30 for up to three hours, £5.40 for up to five hours, and £6.50 for longer than five hours.

3. Repairs to Knebworth House

A planning application has been submitted to make repairs to Knebworth House.

If permission by North Herts Council, repairs will be able to be conducted to the southern roofs. 

This would include repairs to the existing slate roofs, gutters, chimneys and parapets, and improved detailing to the gutters, rainwater goods and parapets.

4. Closure of Dane End Lane and Halls Green in Weston

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order allowing them to close Dane End Lane and Halls Green in Weston.

Around 1.1km of Dane End Lane and 2.3km of Halls Green will be able to be closed from January 29, for a period of up to 18 months. The roads will not be closed for the entire period, but at specific times that will be indicated by signs on the roads.

The closures are to allow utility service works to be carried out.

5. Closure of Lannock Hill/Hitchin Road in Weston

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order allowing them to close Lannock Hill/Hitchin Road in Weston.

Around 2.2km of the road will be closed, from the junction with B197 Jacks Hill to the junction with Damask Green Road.

The order will come into force from January 15, for a period of up to 18 months. The roads will not be closed for the entire period, but at specific times that will be indicated by signs on the roads.

The closure is to allow utility service works to be carried out.
