Daniel Dunton’s family have thanked the public for their support as they paid tribute to their "beautiful boy".

The 30-year-old went missing from Watford on January 3 before a body police believed was him was found on Thursday (January 11). Police have now confirmed that a file has been prepared for the coroner.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Paying tribute to Daniel, his family said: “We would like to say thank you for the kindness and love shown to us as a family whilst we come to terms with the passing of our beloved Daniel.

“Daniel was a big character with an even bigger heart - he would have loved the tributes held for him especially those from the local football community.

“Our lives will never be the same but one thing that will never change is our love for him. Until we meet again our beautiful boy.”

The family asked for privacy as they continue to mourn their loss.

The former Oxhey Jets player’s passing was marked by a minute’s silence before the team played in black armbands on Saturday (January 13).

Then, as Watford FC took on QPR at Loftus Road the next day, the Elton John song 'Daniel' was played as part of the pre-match music and a minute’s applause was observed by fans in the 30th minute.
