A multi-business pop-up shop, transforming a vacant unit into a shopping spot, has been held in Hitchin's Churchgate.

The event was led by Jemma Larkin, the force behind the Furniture Parlour, and played host to more than 30 businesses.

Jemma said: "I would like to thank everyone who has made it possible for me to bring the pop-up shop to life."

North Herts Council’s executive member for enterprise, councillor Keith Hoskins, praised the endeavour for "bringing vitality back to our high street".

He added: "North Herts Council is eager to extend this opportunity to other businesses."

Councillor Ian Albert, North Herts Council's executive member for finance and IT and chair of Hitchin Area Forum said: "The decision to lease units to independent businesses not only injected excitement into Hitchin but also provided a boost to the local economy."
