Parking restrictions in Stevenage town centre are set to change later this month.

1. Changes to Stevenage town centre parking restrictions

Parking restrictions in the town centre will change after Stevenage Borough Council submitted several Orders.

The alterations will affect on-street pay and display parking spaces in Danestrete, Southgate, Swingate, The Quadrant, Westgate and Marshgate.

Currently, cars must only pay to park between 6am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday.

Once the orders come into force, on January 29, the operational hours will be extended by two hours so that cars will have to pay to park between 6am and 8pm from Monday to Saturday.

The way you pay for parking will also change, with 4G modems fitted so that parking must be paid for via contactless bank card rather than with coins.

2. Outline planning application for 900 new homes on edge of Stevenage

A planning application has been submitted to North Herts Council for 900 homes to be built as an "extension to Stevenage".

The site is just south of Graveley and directly to the north of the controversial Forster Country development that is currently being built by Bellway Homes and Miller Homes.

3. Outline planning application for nine new homes in Knebworth

A planning application has been submitted to North Herts Council for nine new homes to be built in Knebworth.

If permission is granted, the homes would be built on land on the western edge of the village, behind an existing detached property in Park Lane.

4. Chez Burton apply for Letchworth alcohol licence

Chez Burton have applied for an alcohol licence for their new premises in Letchworth.

Already open in Baldock, Chez Burton are hoping to open a cocktail and wine bar at Station Place.

Their application is for "the sales of alcohol, provision of live and recorded music and late-night refreshment".

5. Nationwide apply to change signage in Hitchin

An application has been made by Nationwide to change their external signage at 12 Market Place in Hitchin.

It follows a recent rebranding by the building society.

Their unit at 12 Market Place is a Grade II* listed, and within Hitchin Conservation Area.
