Road closures are among the key public notices in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire that are set to affect residents.

Here are a few notices which could impact residents in Stevenage, Hitchin, and the surrounding villages in the coming months.

1. Installation of speed humps in Hitchin

Hertfordshire County Council is proposing to introduce a new 20mph zone with accompanying speed humps.

The speed humps are set to be installed on Verulam Road, and will be laid out as staggered pairs.

The 20mph zone includes streets such as Bancroft, Brand Street, Portmill Lane, Hermitage Road, William Ransom Way, Verulam Road, Nightingale Road, and Grove Road.

2. Various Stevenage road closures

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order temporarily banning traffic from a number of roads in Stevenage.

The roads affected will be:

  • Gresley Way between the junction with Lanterns Lane and the junction with Chalkdown, approximately 450m
  • White Way between the junction with Beane Avenue and the junction with Gresley Way, approximately 50m

Making a right turn from Lanterns Lane into Gresley Way will also be banned.

The closures are to enable works to be carried out, and alternative routes will be available.

The order will come into force on February 12 for a period of up to 18 months, though the roads will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

3. Closure of Arlesey Road in Ickleford

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Arlesey Road in Ickleford.

During the closure, vehicles will be banned from using Arlesey Road between its junction with Turnpike Lane and its junction with Icknield Close.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available.

The order will come into force on February 12 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

4. Closure of Dane End Lane and Halls Green in Weston

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from sections of Dane End Lane and Halls Green in Weston.

Dane End Lane will be closed between its junction with Dane End Farm Lane and its junction with Halls Green, a distance of around 1.1km. Halls Green, meanwhile, will be closed from its junction with Weston Road for a distance of around 2.4km.

The closures are to enable utility service works to be carried out.

The order will come into force on January 29 for a period of up to 18 months, though the roads will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

5. Closure of a cycle track in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily closing a section of cycle track along the A602 in Stevenage.

Around 43m of the track, on the south west side of the road, will be closed from a point just over 300m southeast of its junction with Ingleside Drive.

Cyclists are advised to dismount use the adjacent footpath.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out.

The order will come into force on February 9 for a period of up to six months, though the track will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.
