Legendary Welsh entertainer Max Boyce took time away from his 50th anniversary tour to play special gig at Letchworth Rugby Club.

He was invited by Letchworth president Brian Burke to host a night that would kick off the club's centenary celebrations.

And the singer and comedian did not disappoint.

Burke said: "There was a healthy sprinkling of Welsh exiles who voiced their approval of the great man’s jokes and rugby experiences.

"It was even more of an honour for Letchworth as this was his only engagement outside of the principality in what was his farewell tour .

"For nearly an hour the legendary raconteur held the crowd enthralled with his passion and humour and then generously spent a good bit of time signing memorabilia and autographs for the assembled fans."

Also in attendance was ex-Letchworth skipper John Walters,  now living back in Wales, and ex-chairman of Glynneath RFC  Peter Richards, where Max is both president and head groundsman.

At the end of the evening Burke presented both Max and John with special centenary caps as a reminder of their visit to Legends Lane.
