The mayor officially opened a new convenience store in Stevenage at the weekend.
The OneStop shop in Bragbury End, which sells a range of food and other daily essentials, is part of the Kenilworth Close development off Hertford Road.
Overseen by Stevenage Borough Council, the development includes the construction of 236 homes, several shops, a café and a community space.
The project is currently in phase one, which includes the construction of 176 homes alongside the retail premises.
Stevenage mayor Myla Arceno said the official opening of OneStop was "well attended by nearby residents," and "all were very happy to have OneStop in the neighbourhood".
She continued: "Thank you to the whole team of OneStop shop for the fantastic opening.
"There were lots of bags of goodies and prizes for those who found the golden tickets, which the whole family enjoyed. I brought home bags of goodies too.
"Congratulations OneStop! I wish you all a prosperous business in Kenilworth Close."
