Firefighters raced to extinguish a house fire in Letchworth earlier today (Thursday, February 22).
They were called to the scene, in Swanstand, shortly after 9.30am today.
Three fire engines were sent out - from Hitchin, Stevenage, and Letchworth and Baldock stations - and the arriving crews found a fire in the first floor bedroom.
Thankfully, all the inhabitants had been able to leave the house by the time firefighters arrived.

The crews used four hoses to tackle the blaze, and they had put it out by 10.10am.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 11.25am, damping down the scene and checking that the fire had not spread into the loft space.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire is believed to have started accidentally, with an investigation into the exact cause set to take place later today.
