A Hitchin women's voluntary group has celebrated 100 years of service by knitting 100 headbands for charity.
Hitchin Inner Wheel, established in 1949 and a part of District 26, marked the occasion last month, with an afternoon tea at Letchworth Golf Club.
Margarette Golding, a Manchester Rotarian's wife, started the Inner Wheel movement in 1924 and it has gone on to be one of the largest international women's voluntary organisations.
The Hitchin group has supported local and international charities through regular fundraisers, craft goods sales, and knitting drives, including an annual effort for the Garden House Hospice and the British Legion.
Tasked with knitting 100 headbands for the centenary celebration, the group met their goal and delivered the knitted bands to Cancer Hair Care in Stevenage in February.
The work of the group showcases the spirit of community service, commemorating 100 years with a charitable endeavour, symbolising their sustained commitment to their community and legacy.
