A kite-flying event took place in Hitchin on Sunday, in solidarity with the women of Gaza.

Supported by North Herts Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), the Kites in Solidarity event on Windmill Hill followed a kite-making workshop in the town last month.

The Kites in Solidarity movement, founded in November 2023, was inspired by the 2011 world record for the most kites flown simultaneously, achieved by children of the Gaza Strip. A total of 12,350 kites were flown.

Sunday’s kite-flying in Hitchin took place two days after International Women’s Day and was dedicated to all of the women in Gaza.

A spokesperson for the North Herts PSC said: "To mark International Women’s Day, North Herts PSC joined Kites in Solidarity in passionately advocating for all the women of Gaza."
