Plans to turn a former family centre in Stevenage into a laundrette have been approved.
The plans to open a laundrette at 5 The Hyde include taking down a partition wall to create more space.
The 88sqm unit is currently vacant, with Stevenage Borough Council advertising its availability since June last year, asking for rent of £15,875 per year.
The council's estates department supported the change of use of the premises to a laundrette "following unsuccessful marketing under its previous use", it said.
The council approved the planning application on Friday, attaching a condition that "prior to the first use of the premises approved, a test shall be carried out after all the mechanical plants and equipment have been fully installed, to ensure that the total noise level shall not cause adverse or significant adverse impact" on neighbours.
