In a "delightful twist" during a school trip to London, Year 5 pupils from St Margaret Clitherow RC Primary School in Stevenage were left stunned by a surprise visit from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The children were exploring various London landmarks when they made the unexpected encounter at Downing Street.
Headteacher Carmela Puccio said "the excitement was evident" as the children "caught a glimpse of the country's leading figure".
Ms Puccio called it a "delightful twist" to the school trip and said: "For many of the children, this encounter marked a highlight of their visit, providing a unique opportunity to meet a prominent figure in British politics.
"As the children reflect on their time in London, the memory of their visit to 10 Downing Street will undoubtedly remain etched in their minds, serving as a reminder of the limitless possibilities that await them as they continue to learn and grow."
