Road closures are among the key public notices in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire that are set to affect residents.

1. Chells Way in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Chells Road in Stevenage, for a distance of 91m south eastwards from its junction with Mobbsbury Way.

The closure will be to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Chells Way, Fairlands Way/St Georges Way, Six Hills Way and Chells Way.

The order would come into force on May 28 for a period of up to 18 months, though the roads will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly. Closure times will be specified on signs on or near the roads.

2. Meadow Way in Hitchin

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Meadow Way in Hitchin, for a distance of 20m south westwards from its junction with Wratten Road West.

The closure is to enable a gas mains to be replaced, and an alternative route will be available via Wratten Road West, A505, Willow Lane, Charlton Road, Hawthorn Close and Meadow Way.

The order will come into force on May 13 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

3. Swangleys Lane in Knebworth

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Swangleys Lane in Knebworth, between its junction with Old Lane and its junction with London Road.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Old Lane, Watton Road and London Road.

The order will come into force on May 12 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

4. Tatlers Lane in Aston

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Tatlers Lane in Aston, for 300m south westwards from its junction with Long Lane.

The closure is to enable electrical works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Long Lane and Tatlers Lane, or via Long Lane and Short Lane.

The order will come into force on May 27 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

5. Raffin Green Close in Datchworth

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Raffin Green Close in Datchworth, for a 60m section close to its junction with Hooks Cross.

The closure is to enable vegetation removal works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Raffin Green Lane, A602, Bragbury Lane, Bury Lane and Raffin Green Lane.

The order would come into force on May 29 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.
