London 2012 medallist Anthony Ogogo is set to headline a pro wrestling event in Stevenage after swapping the boxing ring for the wild world of wrestling.

British wrestling promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) will be returning to the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage on Saturday, June 29 for an event entitled 'Raw Deal'.

Ogogo took Bronze at his home games 12 years ago before his pro boxing career was ended by an eye injury. He made the surprising transition to pro wrestling in 2019, signing with American giants All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

His time stateside has seen him take on the now WWE champion Cody Rhodes in Las Vegas, as well as tangling with wrestling icon Chris Jericho.

In recent months he's returned home, appearing on a number of events for RevPro, including this past weekend at London's The 229, where he challenged RevPro world champion Michael Oku to a title match in the main event of the Stevenage spectacular.

On Tuesday night promoters made the match official, with Oku looking to hand 'The guv'nor' his first pro wrestling loss on British soil.

Professional Wrestling is a cross between theatre and sport, with the outcomes of bouts predetermined and has been likened to a sporting soap opera.

RevPro's last visit to Stevenage was in April and saw Oku retain his championship against international star Zozaya.

Punters attending 'Raw Deal' may well get a glimpse of pro wrestling's stars of the future as RevPro have a reputation for developing talent that have gone in to star in Japan and the United States.

Many RevPro alumni have gone on to make waves in the big leagues, appearing in WWE and AEW, most notably Will Ospreay, who spent a decade wowing British and Japanese crowds before making the move to AEW earlier this year.

Tickets for the event start at just £19 (£16 for concessions) and can be booked at gordon-craig.co.uk/revpro-wrestling-raw-deal-i3800.
