Planning permission has been granted to turn a home into a house of multiple occupation (HMO), aimed at attracting graduates who need a place to rent.
The end-of-terrace house in York Road, Stevenage, has been vacant since February, and work to convert the house into a HMO started in April, the applicant said.
A HMO is a shared house occupied by individuals who share basic amenities but do not form a single household.
The applicant explained: "We plan to turn the house into a single let tenancy HMO, aimed at housing graduate placements who will be working at any of the large companies within Stevenage - GSK, Airbus and MBDA. There will be a maximum of four people during the tenancy."
