A nursery in Stevenage has been given permission to turn a former dog grooming salon into a day nursery, allowing it to expand its provision for children with special educational needs.
Little Conkers Day Nursery, based at the 7th Stevenage Sea Scouts hut, is planning to open a second facility in the town.
Stevenage Borough Council has given the nursery permission to change the use of a unit in Willows Link from a dog grooming salon to a day nursery, which will be open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The new facility will cater for a maximum of 16 children with special educational needs, along with a maximum of five members of staff.
A spokesperson for the nursery said: "We are expanding. We are hoping to move our SEN hub to allow more children to attend specialist early years education, with no extra cost to parents, as we accepted government funding for all children.
"This will also give more two-year funding spaces to offer at our current setting."
