A 34-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a man who was fatally stabbed in Stevenage.
Police were called just after 11.50pm on Wednesday, June 19, to reports of a serious assault in Walden End.
The East of England Ambulance Service attended, and the victim, 61-year-old Stevenage man Peter Lynch, was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. He died a short time later.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and was released on police bail whilst officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit carried out their investigation.
Yesterday (August 5), Erin McNeilly, aged 34, of Walden End, was charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector Lee Martin, who is investigating, said: "Our team have been working hard to establish the full circumstances of what happened that evening and the events that led to Peter’s death.
"As a result of our enquiries, we have now charged Ms McNeilly, who has been remanded into custody.
"The first hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3, at Cambridge Crown Court.
"I’d like to thank residents and members of the public who have assisted us with our investigation.
