There are new leaders in the Stevenage Mixed League after the latest round of results.

Baldock Town have gone back into pole position after two wins, leaving them on 42 points from nine games.

They beat Knebworth 51-37 and Three Horseshoes 68-43.

Howard Garden are second on 36 points, having also played nine, while defending champions St Ippolyts are third on 34 points but with a game in hand.

In total 41 results have now been declared.

Baldock Town didn't have as much fun in cups though.

They did beat Hitchin in the Cairns Cup by 24 shots but went out of the Hertfordshire Top Club with a semi-final loss to Royston by three disciplines to two.

In two midweek friendlies they beat Stevenage 44-40 but lost 77-57 to Sandy Town.

Howard Garden were also in Cairns Cup action but were also on the end of a defeat, going down 76-53 to Letchworth Garden City.

Their midweek friendly saw a convincing 66-35 win over Hitchin.

On Sunday they held their own triples competition with Troy Page, Jamie Moynes and Stuart Abery taking the spoils ahead of Paul Donalson, Jeff Brothers and Tony Wood.

Aside from the loss to Baldock, Three Horseshoes also visited St Ippolyts in the SML and dented the champions' hopes with a 51-40 win.

Datchworth's SML progress brought a victory, beating Letchworth 49-30.

Two of their rinks won, the best of them Chris Hills, Jan Smith, Richard Harper and Steve Arnold who extended a 13-2 advantage after six ends into a 21-7 success.

The ladies played a County League match, producing a sterling comeback after being 15-3 down after 10 ends to Rosedale but still losing eventually with a final score of 18-14.

There were also three East Herts League matches.

The Golds won 49-25 away to Stevenage White in Division Three, the top rink being Ian Green, Julian Hales and Steve Chamberlain, but the Blues suffered two narrow losses in Division One.

The first saw them beaten 36-29 to WGC Lions with defeats on both rinks.

The second did see them take some points against Hertford thanks to a victory for Graham Akers, Rob Hazeu and Peter Hills.

However, they lost 36-34 overall.

North Herts Bowls Club had one match against Royston but despite it being a very friendly and enjoyable day, they lost heavily, 66-29.

Rae Glenn, John Wigglesworth and Jeff Tebbutt had a very close game, but finally succumbed 17-13.
