The January transfer window may have only just shut but cricket clubs are already gearing up to return for the summer season.

Preston are one of those who have plans well in advance ahead of the 2024 Herts Cricket League campaign.

The club's well-attended senior winter nets began on Saturday, January 27, at Kingshott School in Hitchin and Preston also have junior nets arranged across the months running up to the new year.

Running four senior teams, as well as junior sides from U9s to U13s, they are on the lookout though for any new players.

Preston's first team will again be playing in the second-tier Championship and they will start at home to Hemel Hempstead Town on May 11, ending the season on September 7 at home again, this time against Welwyn Garden City.

The big dates for them will be the derby against Letchworth Garden City, the first coming in week three at Preston Rec before the teams meet again at Whitethorn Lane on July 27.

Letchworth start their season at Chorleywood and end it against Dunstable Town at home.

Hitchin are in Division One this season with an opening clash away to Sawbridgeworth.

They also end the year on the road, at Luton Town & Indians, while their first home game at Lucas Lane is on May 18 when Old Elizabethans come to town.

Stevenage start at home to Radlett II in Division Two A and end at home to West Herts II, while home games against Holtwhites Trinibis and Old Finchleians bookend Knebworth Park's Division Two B season.

The Division Three A year begins with a derby - Ickleford going to Letchworth II - and Datchworth are also in the division, starting at Allenburys & County Hall.

Letchworth host Datch on June 8 while the village side host Ickleford on the final day.

Baldock begin life in Division Six A at Rickmansworth II while Weston host Hemel Hempstead Town III.

Weston then host Baldock two weeks later.
