Stevenage were fortunate to get a point at Carlisle United said manager Steve Evans but the fact they did shows they are still very much in the fight for the League One play-offs.
Boro had trailed to two Dan Butterworth goals at Brunton Park and with 10 minutes to go, only a demoralising defeat to the basement side seemed to be coming.
But substitute Alex MacDonald breathed some life into them and after he won and scored a penalty with nine minutes remaining, Terence Vancooten equalised with almost the last kick of the game, leaving it at 2-2.
Evans said: "That sends us into the Easter campaign and it is still on us, we’re still in it.
"A lot of managers around the league who were not playing today but who are fighting for that spot, they will have seen 2-0 and they’d be off for a wee beer in a pub.
"Then they’ll hear we’ve drawn 2-2.
"That should tell them that we're in this fight. We might not win it but you have to be in it to win it.
"I've always said that are ethos is built on spirit. What we lack, we make up for in fight.
"We go into a boxing match and even with one arm, we’ll fight, that's what we do.
"It’s credit to the players and as much as I'm disappointed that we've taken a point, it’s credit to the players that here we are, seven games to go, we’re a point outside the play-offs in among giants of clubs and we deserve to be there for what we've contributed all season.
"We're here missing some really big players for us but last year we were known for late goals and so it is great to get one in.
"It makes the journey down the road palatable.
He admitted though that the draw might have been fortunate.
The boss said: "I didn't recognise our team for 60 minutes, even when we made the changes.
"Maybe they got the second against the run of play, in terms of general play without us overly creating, and then our players probably thought we were going to get nothing.
"When we got the penalty, I thought we could win it but Craig MacGillivray, people criticise, but he makes an absolute fantastic save.
"Then we laid siege to the goal, Vadaine Oliver does brilliant with the header and it is an unbelievable save by their goalkeeper, but it falls to TVC who puts it in the corner.
"Over 90 I think we are probably fortunate to go away with a point."
"There was also praise for a couple of the substitutes, as well as one ex-Boro player.
Evans said: "You always look at your substitutions and do they work for you and did they not?
"Nesta Guinness-Walker was sensational when he came on.
"There were two challenges on him that were X-rated but he kept going.
"I love Alex McDonald, he could be my son and the dressing room know that. He gives you what he gives you.
"But I thought Ben Thompson was really good, he hasn’t played striker since he was in the U8s."
"Carlisle have got a lot of really good players and I thought Harrison Neal, who played for us, he run the game for about an hour.
"Then we got Ben Thompson around him and he drifted out of it but up to 60 minutes, I thought the kid was really good."
