Stevenage are reportedly weighing up a move for another midfielder who featured heavily in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Malachi Boateng was the first to be linked with a switch to Alex Revell's League One outfit, the Crystal Palace man having impressed while on loan at Dundee.

But just a short drive from Dens Park, to Perth, was where Dan Phillips was earning plaudits for his performances with St Johnstone.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at McDiarmid Park and Saints boss Craig Levein is becoming increasingly resigned to losing his star man.

A switch to Hertfordshire would not be seen as too much of a stretch either, the Enfield-born man having first broken through at Watford after spending time on loan at Hemel Hempstead Town.

He then made a temporary season-long switch to Gillingham in the 2021-2022 season, where he played under former Boro boss Steve Evans, before his release from the Hornets.

He made the move north of the border in August 2022.
