The departure of Kane Hemmings from Stevenage has been confirmed - after signing for League Two Crewe Alexandra.

The 32-year-old has signed a one-year contract at Gresty Road, with an option for a further 12 months.

He had joined Boro just after the closing of the 2023 summer transfer window, his contract with Tranmere Rovers having been cancelled.

And he went on to score seven goals in 21 appearances.

However, it appeared his stay would be short when Stevenage said he had been neither been retained nor released at the end of the campaign, merely that he was still in talks.

Those doubts over his remaining at the Lamex grew further when an Instagram post strongly hinted his departure.

It said: "A year I'll cherish. I really can't tell you how much I enjoyed my time here.

"These lads were some of the best you'll ever get to meet. What a bunch to share a changing room [with].

"Good luck all."

Stevenage have signed Louis Appere, Dan Kemp and Lewis Freestone so far this summer.
