Stevenage are set to make their eight signing of the summer - as long as all the paperwork and details are completed.

Manager Alex Revell revealed they were hopeful of adding a new face to their squad "in the next 24 hours".

"That's what we're looking to do," said the Boro boss, "it’s being sorted out at the moment.

"That would be a real positive for us."

And with the transfer window a little over a week away, Revell would not rule out more signings, although he admitted the need for caution when it comes to overloading the squad.

He said: "The difficulty for this squad is that we have had some really long-term injuries so we have to look at what we've got now compared to what we might have in January.

"It's really important that we get off to a good start, important for us as a club, but it's also important that the squad all believe they've got an opportunity to play.

"But as a staff, we also understand that each of these players is here for a reason and they've got to understand that that there's a potential for them to play.

"When you don't have that as a player, you tend to switch off and that's where the problems come from.

"As long as we're honest with people about playing time and honest about their performances and honest about how they're training, then that's what helps keep the squad together.

"We've got a real tight squad and anyone who comes in has to make us better.

"We have to get that balance right but if we get the opportunity to improve and bring in strength and quality to this already talented group, then we will do, as long as it fits into what we're trying to do."
