Four adults and a child have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A507 between Stotfold and Henlow yesterday (Wednesday, May 31).

The East of England Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 3.12pm, with a number of vehicles in attendance. Officers from Bedfordshire Police also attended.

The collision reportedly involved three vehicles - a Vauxhall Astra, an Audi A4, and a Vauxhall Meriva.

The driver and passenger of the Vauxhall Astra, a man and woman both in their 80s, were taken by road ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and remain "in a serious condition", according to a spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police.

The driver of the Audi A4, along with two passengers - an adult and a child - were taken to Lister Hospital in Stevenage for treatment.

A mental health triage car - with a paramedic onboard - came across the crash moments after it happened, and was later joined by four road ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, two ambulance officer vehicles, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene with crews from Shefford, Biggleswade, and Spotsley having been called at 3.14pm. They extricated a male from a vehicle, with all other passengers - three women and a child - extricating themselves.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage to get in touch with them.

PC Boris Kahn, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a very serious incident, and our thoughts are with those involved.

“We are appealing for anyone that was travelling along the A507 between Stotfold and Henlow around the time of the incident and those who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

”We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has dashcam footage that may support our investigation into this collision”.
