The breed of dog tasered by police for being "dangerously out of control" in a Stevenage street has been revealed by police.
A rottweiler came loose from its lead and bit its owner in Tates Way at around 7.30pm on Saturday, Hertfordshire police have confirmed.
Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Dog Unit attended, along with local and firearms officers as a contingency.

One eye witness said: "Police turned up and had to use shields to protect themselves. The dog ran across the dual carriageway, obviously scared. Loads of police and armed police were seen down the side street by the Beefeater pub."
Another added: "I saw the shields as I drove home after a Sainsbury's trip. I saw a police officer at that road just before the Beefeater talking to a driver who had just pulled into that turning."
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire police said: "Due to the situation that was unfolding to the initial attending officers, a taser was used on the dog, however the dog subsequently made off from the scene.
"Officers traced the dog and successfully seized it, without any further injury to members of the public or officers.
"The owner was taken to hospital for treatment, and the dog taken to secure kennels."
