Members of the public sprang into action today (Friday, October 20) to rescue a dog that had escaped onto a Hertfordshire motorway.
The pooch had managed to make it onto the A1(M) carriageway, near Welwyn, before it was saved.
After the concerned citizens had got the dog under control, the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Road Policing Unit arrived to take over, and returned the beloved pet to its "very grateful" owner.

The Unit took to the social media platform X - formerly Twitter - to thank the kind-hearted members of the public who had saved the dog.
They also revealed that officers had been able to make an improvised lead with leg restraints - ensuring that the dog was unable to repeat its escape.
