A pedestrian underpass in Stevenage town centre has been closed by Stevenage Borough Council "due to concerns regarding public safety".
The underpass between 24 and 26 Queensway "requires repairs to make the underpass safe", according to the council.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: "The pedestrian underpass between 24 and 26 Queensway has been closed off due to concerns regarding public safety.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents living in and visiting the Quadrant flats who will, for now, need to access these properties via Queensway and the town centre via Southgate, until the underpass is reopened.
"Residents of the Quadrant flats have been notified. Unfortunately, we are unable to specify a timeframe on how long the underpass will remain closed, as the council does not own the building which requires repairs to make the underpass safe, but is working to resolve this as soon as possible with the parties responsible."
