A nursery in Stevenage is planning to expand to allow more children with special educational needs (SEN) to attend specialist early years education.

Little Conkers Day Nursery, based at the 7th Stevenage Sea Scouts hut, is planning to open a second facility in the town.

The nursery has applied to Stevenage Borough Council to change the use of a unit in Willows Link from a dog grooming salon to a day nursery, which would be open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

A spokesperson for the nursery said: "We are expanding. We are hoping to move our SEN hub to allow more children to attend specialist early years education, with no extra cost to parents, as we accepted government funding for all children.

"This will also give more two-year funding spaces to offer at our current setting."
