There is plenty of sadness in Baldock after a church in the town confirmed it has closed after 170 years of worship.
Baldock Methodist Church in Whitehorse Street was built back in 1853, but welcomed its congregation for the last time on Sunday (June 9) in an emotional final service.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the church said: "You may have heard the sad news that Baldock Methodist Church is closing after 170 years of worship and work in the community.
"We had our final service on Sunday. Thank you to all who attended and filled the church with song and prayer.
"Thanks too to all who have given us their love and support over many years whether it be in worship, in attending the many activities in our outreach programs or to those of you who have let the space for your own activities.
"We are so pleased that you have all found new premises and can continue your good work in this community. Thanks for all those wonderful memories."
