Stevenage's Cineworld site could be at risk of closure after the business announced plans to shut a quarter of its UK cinemas.
The cinema chain, which currently runs around 100 sites across the country, is expected to launch closures as part of a formal restructuring plan.
According to Sky News, Cineworld will also seek renegotiated rents on around 50 cinemas, with the remaining sites untouched by the process.
Although no official announcement has been made on which cinemas will go, the Stevenage Leisure Park Cineworld is among those at risk.
The restructuring proposals are expected to be formally outlined in the coming weeks, with financial services firm AlixPartners acting as an adviser during the process.
Cineworld went private in 2023, when investors took over to help tackle debts well into the billions of pounds.
The growth of streaming services, delays to releases following actor and writer strikes, and the cost-of-living crisis for customers have been cited as the reason for Cineworld's struggles.
