Planning permission is being sought to change the use of a car repairs premises in Stevenage to parking, as part of an expansion of a waste recycling facility.
Waste Mission - a waste recycling business - has recently bought the site on Crompton Road and says it is currently operating at full capacity on land next to the site, so wants to expand its operations.
The company collects waste materials such as metals, timber and plastics, which are sorted, cleaned, bundled and sold, ready to be recycled into new products.
The proposal is for some of the buildings on the new site to be demolished, and hard-surfacing laid down.
A cover letter accompanying the planning application, submitted to Stevenage Borough Council, says: "The works will enable this thriving adjacent business to expand onto this land, enabling a more spacious and streamlined overall layout of their whole site operations and flow of vehicles through the site and exit onto the public highway.
"The simple alterations to the site are considered to have no adverse impact upon the character and appearance of this established industrial area."
