Part of the A1(M) was closed yesterday (Wednesday, July 31) evening around Junction 6 for Welwyn.
Police officers were called to the scene around 6.45pm following reports of a concern for welfare.
The northbound carriageway was closed around junction six, with traffic diverted via the entry and exit slip roads. Traffic on the southbound carriageway was also stopped.
A man was brought to safety shortly before 9pm, and the road was re-opened shortly afterwards.
