An historic Grade II-listed property, once home to renowned mathematician and land surveyor Richard Norwood, has been listed for sale.
The historic Cannix Manor, now known as Broomin Green Farm, is being sold by estate agents Bairstow Eves for £1.25 million.
The Tudor house, which is located on Maxwell Road in Stevenage and boasts a Victorian addition, provides five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two reception rooms across expansive grounds.
Known for its roots dating back to the 1500s, Cannix Manor is "a unique opportunity" stated Bairstow Eves.
Richard Norwood was born at the property in 1590 and was the first land surveyor to go to Bermuda. A map drawn by Mr Norwood is in the London Library.
The cultural history of the property is laced throughout its architecture, from the original Tudor fireplaces to the oak timberwork apparent from black beams.
Additional features include a large driveway leading to mature gardens suitable for social events, an outhouse with gym and sauna facilities, a fitted kitchen with underfloor heating, and six 'themed' bedrooms.
The estate agent points out there is also ample parking available in front of the residence.
Last purchased in 1997 for £200,000, the property offers an "investment opportunity" as well as a "substantial family home", according to Bairstow Eves, with great links to local amenities and transport.
The property is new to the market as it was officially listed for sale on August 2.
