Here's five suggestions of what's on in Stevenage and North Herts over the 2024 August bank holiday weekend.
1. Stevenage Food and Drink Festival - Stevenage
Taking place on Saturday and Sunday (August 24 and 25), Event Island, New Town Fountain and Clock Tower, and Queensway will be abuzz with delicious food, refreshing drinks and entertainment for all ages.
Organised by Stevenage Borough Council and LSD Promotions, the festival will run from 10am to 7pm on Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday, with free admission on both days.
A wide range of street food stalls will be offering up tasty grub, featuring everything from gourmet burgers to international dishes, while thirsty punters will be able to get their hands on cocktails, cold beers and more.
A live music stage will see artists from across Stevenage and Hertfordshire perform, interactive workshops and walkabout entertainment will keep children entertained and a beach will provide a great spot to sit and relax.
2. Goatfest - Codicote
Taking place at Codicote football club and playing field on August 23, 24 and 25, Goatfest is three-days of non-stop music to enjoy this bank holiday.
This year’s festival includes headliners Fuse ODG and Tunde of Lighthouse Family as well as Greatest Showman star – Keala Settle.
Gates to the car park and camping areas will be open at from 3pm on Friday and 11.30am on both Saturday and Sunday.

New for this year are the Friday night comedy sets and spiritual wellness sessions.
Alongside the new additions, there is a variety of local talent will be on display to watch and to eat. With a range of local street food vendors offering vegetarian and vegan options.
Drinks are also covered with multiple fully licensed bars serving anything from beers, to Aperol spritz, to wine to boozy slushies.

3. Classic Motor Show at Knebworth House - Knebworth
If you are pining for petrol and adrenaline this bank holiday look no further than the Classic Motor Show.
On August 25 and 26, Classic Motor Events is hosting an event for vehicle-lovers. Gates open at 8am and the shows will run from 10am to 5pm daily.
Picture hundreds of classic and collectable vehicles in the incredible grounds of Knebworth House. Including vehicles like saloons, sports, American, commercial, military and classic motorcycles.
There will be many static displays, a show arena and parades throughout the event. The famous ‘Decibel Duel’, where owner compete to find the loudest car at the show will also take place.
For families, there’s children’s entertainment, live vintage music and a range of hot food options across the site.
Tickets are available discounted in advance or on the day at full price.
4. Chilli Festival - Benington
This one is not for the faint of heart, the Chilli festival celebrates all things hot and spicy at Benington Lordship Gardens.
The event features over 60 pitches of the nation’s best known independent chilli traders selling everything and anything you can make with chillies – chutneys, sauces, pickles, seeds, cheese and chocolate.
The event takes place on August 24, 25 and 26, opening between 10 to 5pm daily.
Each day at 4pm there will be a chilli eating contest and entertainment including escapology, ferret racing and live music.
Tickets are still available at £10 for adults and £4 for children under 16 - Kids under 12 go free.
5. Hitchin Beach Bar – Hitchin
There will be sand, sun and suspicious parents in Hitchin this weekend as the Market Place beach comes to a close.
You may have visited the Hitchin's very own beach in the town centre but this bank holiday there will be a late night twist.
Finally the parents get their reward for taking their kids to the beach during August, with an evening of live music and cocktails on August 24 and 25.
The event is free for all to enjoy the weekend sunshine without heading down to the coast.
