Thirteen pubs across North Hertfordshire and Stevenage have made the cut as CAMRA published its Good Beer Guide for 2025 today.

The UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide is commonly used by real ale fans to make sure any boozer they visit is up to high standards.

1. The Orange Tree, Baldock

The Orange Tree in Baldock.The Orange Tree in Baldock. (Image: Archant) Baldock's very own 300-year old multi-roomed pub is home to more than 10 community clubs and societies.

The pub serves guest beers from small breweries that are changed weekly. 

CAMRA highlighted its "good, home-cooked" food in addition to Tuesday quiz nights and folk music on Wednesday.

Currently, it is local CAMRA pub of the year.

2. BB's Bar, Hitchin

One of three Hitchin entries into the guide, BB's is a sports and music bar with a friendly pub atmosphere nae after blues legend BB King.

It usually has two Oakham beers plus two others on tap.

3. The Half Moon, Hitchin

It also hosts twice yearly beer festivals a popular quiz and music nights.

4. The Victoria

An annual beer and cider festival and the Vic Fest music festival are also held here.

CAMRA identified its "good-value" and "home-made modern British food" as the unique selling points for the pub.

5. Plume of Feathers - Ickleford

It is reported to be the only pub in Britain that has a stream running through its cellar.

6. The Red Lion, Preston

Punters can enjoy fresh "home made food" with many ingredients sourced locally.

The Red Lion is a regular winner of local CAMRA Pub of the Year and a former regional pub of the year.

7. Broken Seal Tap Room, Stevenage

Stevenage's first brewpub opening in 2019 as the trap room for Bog Brew Brewery.

CAMRA praised its "large range" of bottle and canned beers to drink or takeaway in addition to the beers that are brewed on site.

8. The Chequers, Stevenage

A "friendly locals pub" situated between the old and new town includes a old map of Stevenage and a newly refurbished beer garden.

The CAMRA review said that it had "one of the best ranges of real ales and ciders" in Stevenage.

9. The Lytton Arms, Knebworth

Home-made food is also available every day and live music features on Friday evenings.

10. The Station, Knebworth

CAMRA praised its "delicious food" and range of beer styles.
