A charity golf event held at Stevenage Golf and Conference Centre has raised £5,250 for Garden House Hospice Care in Letchworth.
The Men’s Captain’s Day was organised by this year's captain, Barry Feagan, who chose the hospice as the beneficiary charity.
Barry, who presented a cheque to the hospice with his team, said: "I am proud to have Garden House as my captain’s charity, not least as my friend and fellow club member Michael Brown is such an advocate.
"As well as the event itself, we raise funds all year via regular 'nearest the pin' competitions, the auction of four ball vouchers that Michael gathers from many Hertfordshire courses, plus my first Captain’s Drive in April when I took on the captain role. The continued generous support from our club members has been tremendous."
The event featured an 18-hole team golf competition with additional on-course individual prizes, a 'nearest the pin' competition on Trackman, along with a raffle and an auction.
Garden House Hospice Care provides free specialist palliative care for patients, families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses across North Hertfordshire, Stevenage and towns and villages in Central Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
The golf facility is managed by leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council, and the event saw golfers from the men's section come together to support this vital cause.
Luke Simkins, Everyone Active’s regional contract golf manager, said: "Garden House Hospice Care means a lot to our members, having looked after some of their family members.
"Hospices are only part-funded by the government and rely on fundraising to continue serving their communities, so we are incredibly proud of all our members for their generous support.
"This event really showcased the power of our golfing community to make a real difference in supporting a crucial local charity."
